LG Integrating EV Charging Hardware with ChargePoint Software to Bolster Charging Network

ChargePoint’s customers and drivers will benefit from LG’s EV chargers in use cases where ChargePoint does not offer an ideal hardware solution
ChargePoint, a provider of networked charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), and LG Electronics (LG) have formed a partnership to collaborate on future innovations in EV charging.

The first outcome of this partnership will be a commercial charging solution incorporating ChargePoint’s charger management software and LG’s EV charging hardware.

The deliveries of the commercial charging solutions are expected to start in the summer of 2024. Additionally, the two companies are considering other areas for future collaboration, including:
“This agreement exemplifies how LG continues to pursue strategic alliances to advance innovation and further strengthen our status as a total EV charging solutions provider,” said Suh Heung-kyu, Global Head of the EV Charging business division at LG.

LG’s AC and DC charging stations will be operated by ChargePoint software to form the new offerings, and the companies have begun looking for prospects allowing LG to support ChargePoint’s expansive network of more than 306,000 charging ports.

ChargePoint’s customers and drivers will benefit from LG’s EV chargers in use cases where ChargePoint does not offer an ideal hardware solution.

The companies expect the solutions to enable a competitive package for public sector infrastructure projects, which include high-quality domestic production and elevated information security levels as criteria.

The partnership highlights LG’s goal to expand its presence in the global EV charging infrastructure market and builds on the momentum created by its new factory for advanced EV charger stations in Fort Worth, Texas.
