The new trucks will enable Heniff’s transition to zero-emissions transportation

Bulk transportation firm Heniff Transportation Systems has reached an agreement for acquiring 10 Nikola Tre battery-electric vehicles (BEV) trucks under a fleet-as-a-service model from Thompson Truck Centers, a Nikola sales and service dealer network member.

Heniff Transportation is involved in rail transloading, bulk transportation, ISO depot operations, tank cleaning, and related maintenance, with more than 100 locations across the U.S. Nikola designs and makes heavy-duty commercial BEVs, fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEV) and energy infrastructure solutions.

Under the fleet-as-a-service model, Thompson Truck Centers will provide sales, service, maintenance, and energy infrastructure for the BEVs. Truck deliveries are expected from the first half of 2022.

Once the first 10 BEVs are successfully deployed, Heniff Transportation Systems and Thompson Truck Centers will consider an order for another 90 trucks for Heniff’s fleet.

Nikola Energy and Commercial President, Pablo Koziner explained, “The Nikola dealer network is a key component to delivering innovative zero-emissions products to our customers. Thompson will provide the sales, parts, and service solutions for the Nikola trucks purchased by Heniff, and also the related electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This agreement is intended to be a true turnkey solution, with the goal for Heniff Transportation to realize zero-emissions transportation with first-class dealer support."

Heniff Transportation CEO Bob Heniff added, “After visiting with Nikola's leadership team, touring the new Coolidge, Arizona manufacturing facility, and taking a test ride in the Nikola Tre BEV, we were impressed by the power, performance, engineering, and quality of the truck. We see this partnership with Nikola and Thompson as a means to accelerate our strategy for electrification of our fleet and as a positive benefit for our customers, communities, employees, and stakeholders."
