C-P Packaging firm vows to supply 50% of its U.S. facilities energy needs with Solar Power
Packaging solutions firm C-P Flexible Packaging will power 50% of its facilities in the US with solar energy by 2025, the company says.
The reason for the transition to solar energy is to reduce the firm’s carbon footprint and costs.
“Harnessing solar power as a renewable energy source is consistent with our commitment to environmental responsibility. We are on a journey to reducing our impact on the environment,” said C-P’s CEO Mike Hoffman. “As an added benefit, we’ve found that utilizing solar power provides significant energy savings in the long term. Solar power is truly a win-win, reducing our CO2 emissions while supporting our position as one of the most cost-competitive flexible packaging converters in the U.S.”
The firm already has one of the largest solar deployments in Orange County – an installation of 440 solar panels at its Placentia, California plant.
Now, it is installing 2,034 solar panels at its Lakeville, Minnesota plant. This deployment will produce more than 1.1 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy per year and offset more than 1.7 million pounds of CO2 emissions annually.
C-P Flexible Packaging is also planning a 3rd solar panel installation at another site. It will continue to invest in sustainable packaging products and manufacturing processes as part of its GreenStream initiative.
