Solar Landscape has brought over 3,000 solar panels online on four schools in the Asbury Park School District, New Jersey.
The solar panels will generate over 1.3 MW of electricity, covering over half of the schools’ electricity needs. This will result in annual savings of over $120,000.
Solar Landscape and the Asbury Park School District have signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement. Under the agreement, the firm will provide electricity to the district at no cost. The panels will cover 52% of the energy requirements of the Asbury Park High School, Thurgood Marshall Elementary School, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Upper Elementary School, and Bradley Elementary School.
In the first year, the panels are expected to generate 1,600,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, equivalent to eliminating the CO2 emissions of burning 1.25 million pounds of coal.

“Together with the Asbury Park School District, we are lowering emissions and doing our part to combat climate change by accelerating the transition to renewable energy,” Solar Landscape CEO Shaun Keegan said. “When we can do it in a way that directly benefits our neighbors by saving them money and creating jobs and educational opportunities, it is even more rewarding.”
Solar Landscape is also working with the Board of Education to educate Asbury Park students on renewable energy. Such large installation projects also require the firm to hire solar installers from nearby communities, creating jobs.
