GA Telesis Engine Services Adopts SAF for Engine Testing with DHL as First Customer

July 25, 2024
According to Neste, the company's SAF, when unblended at 100% concentration, has the potential to reduce the aviation industry's greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over the fuel's lifecycle
GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES), an aircraft jet engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul company, has achieved another milestone in its sustainability and environmental protection plan through the adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) provided by Neste, a SAF and renewable diesel producer

GATES will begin integrating the Neste-produced SAF into its engine testing operations in Finland, and logistics company DHL has signed on to be GATES' first customer to benefit from the SAF integration process.

"DHL is already one of the world's largest users of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and we are making significant progress towards achieving a 30% SAF share by 2030. Sustainability is an integral part of corporate strategy, and this collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver excellence sustainably," said Robert Hyslop, DHL EVP of Aviation Express Global.

According to Neste, the company's SAF, when unblended at 100% concentration, has the potential to reduce the aviation industry's greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over the fuel's lifecycle when compared to using conventional jet fuel. GATES will begin utilizing a 25% SAF in its fuel blend, allowing the company to significantly lower its environmental impact from aircraft engine testing.
