Avangrid Produces Energy with 238 MW True North Solar Project to Power Meta Data Centers

July 17, 2024
Avangrid has commissioned 20 MW of the project so far, with commercial operations expected to begin by the end of 2024
Avangrid, a sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, has started producing power from the 238 MWac (321 MWdc) True North solar project in Falls County, Texas, near Waco.

Avangrid has commissioned 20 MW of the project so far, with commercial operations expected to begin by the end of 2024.

The project will supply clean, renewable energy, supporting Meta’s net zero commitment. It will also support Meta's upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center facility in Texas, with 100% renewable energy upon completion. The project will also supply power to additional customers on the Texas grid.

The project is creating local jobs and supporting local communities during its construction and operation. It is expected to pay more than $40 million in property taxes over the project's lifetime, supporting public services like safety, fire protection, and local schools.
