Atlas Renewable Energy Signs PPA with Mining Company to Develop Solar and BESS Project in Chile

March 8, 2024
Atlas will begin supplying the renewable energy in 2026 and continue to deliver the energy for the next 15 years

Atlas Renewable Energy, an international renewable energy generation company, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Codelco, a state-owned Chilean mining company and copper producer, to supply 375 GWh of around-the-clock solar energy per year.

The energy will be generated at a renewable energy project in Chile, which will also feature an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS)

Atlas will begin supplying renewable energy in 2026 and continue to deliver it for the next 15 years. The PPA will also strengthen Atlas' ongoing efforts to deliver clean energy to the Chilean region's major consumers.

"The formalization of this PPA with Codelco underlines Atlas Renewable Energy's commitment to develop energy solutions tailored to our customers' needs. With this project, we formally announce our entry into battery storage technology. We see this as an essential element to materially amplify the volume of renewable energy sources in the power system and to offer our customers a broader suite of energy solutions," said Carlos Barrera, CEO of Atlas Renewable Energy.
