Ameresco Building Regional 4 MW-AC Solar Array Project in Yampa Valley Region
Ameresco has partnered with Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA) and communities surrounding Craig, Colorado, for a regional 4 MW-AC, 20-acre solar array project, the Yampa Valley Regional Solar Garden. The solar garden will provide solar-generated electricity to Steamboat Springs, Craig, Hayden, Yampa, Routt, and Moffat counties.
The project, which comprises of bifacial solar panels and single-axis tracker racking that follows the sun’s trajectory throughout the day for maximum electricity generation, is expected to be completed in October.
The array will produce approximately 9.64 million kWh annually in solar electricity, equivalent to the average annual electricity consumed by more than 1,329 homes in the Yampa Valley Region.
The clean energy generated from the project is anticipated to reduce nearly 130,321 metric tons of CO2 during the next 20 years, equivalent to 29,000 passenger vehicles being taken off the road for one year.
“This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to driving positive change through sustainable solutions that not only benefit the environment but also contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Yampa Valley region,” said Lou Maltezos, Executive Vice President of Ameresco.
