Endress+Hauser Saves $140,000 in 1 Year with 1.3 MW Behind the Meter Solar Project
Castillo Engineering and RPG Energy Group have completed a 1.3 MW behind the meter solar project in Greenwood, Indiana. The project is expected to save Endress+Hauser, an automation and instrumentation manufacturing company, $140,000 in operating costs in the first year alone.
"RPG's expertise in industrial scale, behind-the-meter solar projects was crucial in the success of this project, which had two separate electrical services and meters that had to be assessed to maximize energy offset and utility bill savings,” said Christopher Castillo, CEO at Castillo Engineering.
Recently, Indiana stopped providing net metering services, which allowed customers to sell excess energy back to utilities at the same rate they were charged. To have their solar system grandfathered in and receive retail net metering, RPG Energy Group and Castillo Engineering had to submit an interconnection application and receive approval within six months of project completion. Their project was the final net metered project to be approved in Indiana, and it has resulted in a net energy offset of 53%."We knew we could trust Castillo Engineering’s extensive expertise to help us meet the tight timeline for delivery of both the electrical engineering for interconnection and structural feasibility analysis required for this project," said Colton Cooper, Vice President of Design and Engineering at RPG Energy Group. "Together, we were able to ensure that this project was completed on time - all while providing significant savings to our customers."
