Connecticut-based sustainable energy firm Avangrid has achieved commercial operation at its 150-MW Lund Hill solar farm in Klickitat County, Washington.
Located on about 1,800 acres of land leased from private landowners and the Washington Department of Natural Resources, Avangrid claims Lund Hill is now the largest utility-scale solar farm in the state.
The photovoltaic plant will deliver clean electricity for Puget Sound Energy’s (PSE) Green Direct program, which enables large commercial and governmental participants to buy 100-percent of their energy from local renewable energy resources.
More than 40 customers, including six Washington state government agencies such as the Departments of Health, Ecology, and Transportation, have already signed up for the second round offering of Green Direct program.
By adding more renewables to PSE’s portfolio, Green Direct is expected to further the utility’s decarbonization goals and move toward 100-percent clean energy by 2045, as stipulated in Washington’s Clean Energy Transformation Act.

Puget Sound Energy is the largest utility in Washington, serving approximately 1.2 million electric customers and 900,000 natural gas customers in 10 counties.
