Renewable Developer, Local Church join hands on 2.5-MW Community Solar project in Maryland
A Montgomery County congregation has turned its collective eyes upward in search of a clean energy future.
Summit Ridge Energy and Cedar Ridge Community Church have completed a 2.5-MW community solar project in the county adjacent to Washington DC. The project was developed by TurningPoint Energy under the Maryland Community Solar Pilot Program.
"As a community of hope we are delighted to devote 8 acres of our property to solar power," said Matthew Dyer, Lead Pastor at CRCC. "It's a practical and essential expression of our desire to play our part in creating a sustainable future for this beautiful planet we all love and depend upon.
Summit Ridge Energy owns a market share of Maryland's projects under the Community Solar Pilot Program. Once completed, the portfolio will generate sufficient energy to supply power to approximately 12,500 local homes and businesses.
Nearly a third of the projects will serve low-to-moderate income customers.
TurningPoint Energy will have 40 MWdc projects operational by the end of 2023.
