The Russian invasion of the Ukraine, with hourly reports of new devastations and death, is breaking hearts half a world away.
The war
Whether you watch or read the news coming out of eastern Europe, this invasion has touched every part of life there. Close to two million Ukrainians have left the country in fear of constant bombings and shootings. They deal with lack of food, water and electric power.
The last of those is a starting point for an extraordinary letter written from Ukrainian grid professionals to their neighboring counterparts in Russia. Jeff Postelwait, a writer and editor with EnergyTech's sister publication T&D World, has written a compelling story centered around that open letter.
At the core of it is a common humanity--and life's work in terrifying conditions.
“Every hour we go out into the fields and raise the footings, extinguish fire in transformers and re-energize the cities and towns. And all this under the rumble of cannonades, the whistle of rocket artillery and the roar of air strikes,” reads the letter.
