Capstone Green Energy sending gas-fired Microturbine to Marcellus Shale wellhead sites
The distributor for microturbine firm Capstone Green Energy is supplying two units for oil and gas wellhead sites in the Marcellus Shale plan of the eastern U.S.
E-Finity Distributed Generation, Capstone Green Energy Corporation’s exclusive distributor for the Mid-Atlantic, Southeastern U.S. and the Caribbean, will fill the order. The systems will be added to an extensive fleet and commissioned as per requirement through 2023.
The low-emission, oil-free microturbine systems are fuelled by natural gas and provide power 24/7. These microturbines produce lower emissions than traditional internal combustion engines.
The dual-mode 65-kW systems will provide power to operate the various buildings.
“E-Finity now boasts an oil and gas fleet that exceeds 500+ operating units providing our customers with power when and where they need it,” E-Finity Distributed Generation President Jeff Beiter said.
Capstone Green Energy President and CEO Darren Jamison said that global energy firms have been investing in new technologies and infrastructure, like microturbine systems, to ensure greener ways to generate on-site electricity.
“These are the key areas in which Capstone Green Energy has built its business and where it continues to innovate and grow its Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) business,” Jamison added.
The Marcellus Shale is a sedimentary rock formation found below much of the Appalachian region of the U.S. The Devonian age shale contains untapped natural gas estimated at about 144 trillion cubic feet in technically recoverable reserves, according to reports.
Natural gas-fired generators and engines emit significantly less carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and other greenhouse gases, according to some reports.
