Aker Solutions and Dril-Quip teaming up on Carbon Capture for Subsea Injection sites
Subsidiaries of oil and gas services firm Aker Solutions ASA and Dril-Quip, Inc. have collaborated to offer subsea injection systems for carbon capture, utilization and storage projects.
The strengths of each organisation will be leveraged to deliver optimum CCUS solutions. Dril-Quip will provide CO2 injection Xmas trees and wellheads for integration into a larger subsea injection system for technology, designed to inject and store CO2.
Aker Solutions and Dril-Quip will work together to target the Northern Endurance Project, which provides common onshore and offshore infrastructure for CO2 capture and transport from carbon emitting projects, like the Net Zero Teesside Power, for offshore storage in the North Sea. NEP is a partnership between bp, National Grid, Equinor, Shell and Total.
Dril-Quip’s President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bird said the collaboration reinforces the firm’s commitment to energy transition and said, “It builds on our legacy of providing technologies that enable our customers to save time and money, reduce risk and lower their carbon footprint. We look forward to working jointly with Aker Solutions to bring best-in-class solutions to our customers.”
