ABB Installing EV Chargers at Circle K in Kentucky to Create First NEVI EV Charging Site in Southeastern US
ABB E-mobility is installing its Terra 184 EV chargers at a Circle K in Richmond, Kentucky, along the frequently traveled Interstate 75 corridor to create the first NEVI EV charging site in the Southeastern US.
All of the chargers that ABB will install are Build America, Buy America compliant, meet the NEVI technical minimum standards, and will provide up to 180 kW of power per charger for Circle K customers.
According to the NEVI (National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) guidelines, all EV charging infrastructures utilizing Federal funding are required to maintain a minimum uptime standard of 97%. This ensures that EV drivers are guaranteed access to working chargers across the US – helping ease range anxiety and promote EV adoption.
“Our customers and drivers expect that charging infrastructure works, and we provide reliable and convenient charge-and-go technology,” said Chris Nordh, Head of ABB E-mobility in North America. “[We are] committed to helping partners like Circle K achieve their EV charging goals by delivering reliable, seamless, efficient, and flexible charging solutions.”
This new charging site announcement serves to advance Circle K’s increasing global EV charging footprint, and the company expects to reach 200 charging sites in North America by the end of 2024.
