Wallbox and Atlante Partner to Establish Largest EV Fast-Charging Network in Southern Europe
Wallbox, a global EV charging and energy management solutions provider, and Atlante, a company of NHOA Group (formerly Engie EPS) dedicated to establishing the largest fast and ultra-fast EV charging network in Southern Europe, have partnered to develop new EV charging points throughout Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal.
“We are excited to announce our collaboration with Atlante, a strategic partner with whom we will provide our customers with the best possible electric charging experience," says Enric Asunción, CEO and Co-Founder of Wallbox. "Thanks to our common commitment to promoting the widespread adoption of sustainable transportation, we aim to foster a new energy paradigm and create a pan-European public charging infrastructure."
The partnership will enable Atlante to install 5,000 charging points by 2025 and 35,000 by 2030, all powered by 100% renewable energy and backed by storage and photovoltaic canopies, where possible.
Both Atlante’s 60 kW and 150 kW fast-charging stations will be equipped with Wallbox’s Supernova public charger, which can ensure maximum EV charger reliability and offer an uptime of over 95%.
“From the very beginning, we have believed in Wallbox's fast and ultra-fast charging solutions. We are excited to have Wallbox as a partner in the ongoing technological development of our charging solutions and, above all, in the shared challenge of creating an increasingly extensive and accessible charging network for as many EV drivers as possible in Southern Europe," said Stefano Terranova, CEO of Atlante.
To be in strict compliance with recently ratified legislation from the European Parliament, the charging stations will be positioned along primary transportation arteries linking Southern Europe. According to the legislation, at least one charging point must be established every 60 km on the core road network of the European Union, and one every 100 km on the Trans-European network.
In 2022 and 2023, Atlante received nearly $80 million in grant funding from the European Union under the CEF 2 Transport – Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Facility program, a funding initiative supporting European transport infrastructure.
