TeraWatt Infrastructure, a charging solutions provider, has broken ground on its heavy-duty electric vehicle charging site in Rancho Dominguez, California. Less than 15 miles north of the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, the site is strategically located to support sustainable trucking fleet operations.
"The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach stand as pivotal hubs for our nation's strategic shipping operations, distinguished as some of the busiest and most critical ports in the country," said Neha Palmer, TeraWatt's CEO and Co-Founder. "We know that with the proper infrastructure in place, EV adoption will quickly accelerate in this region.”
TeraWatt’s charging site will feature 20 pull-through and bobtail DC fast charging stalls with a total capacity of 7 MW. This will enable charging for up to 125 trucks each day and result in an annual decrease of 12,600 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The site will also include a driver amenities building with a lounge, food and beverage services, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
As the company ramps up fleet electrification efforts, PepsiCo has already announced it will be utilizing TeraWatt’s charging site for last-mile delivery charging in the Los Angeles area. TeraWatt hopes to have the site operational by mid-2024.
