San Diego County’s Helix Water District announced it has selected Black & Veatch, an engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction company, to design its EV charging station infrastructure.
The project will include installing 70 chargers at Helix’s operations center, which will support the district as it begins electrifying its fleet to comply with California’s new Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulation.
Approved by California’s Air Resources Board, the ACF regulation requires that, starting in 2024, 50% of all new government fleet purchases for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles must be zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) or near-zero-emission vehicles (NZEV), and by 2035, all fleet purchases must be ZEVs.
“Our experience with industry-leading clean transportation solutions on a global scale provides a model for reliable and resilient EV infrastructure that can be replicated for water utilities and other fleet operators around the world,” said Scott Maloni, Client Executive for Black & Veatch.
