Ulti-Mech distributing Electric Utility Vehicles for Australian Mining operations
U.S.-based sustainable energy solutions firm VivoPower International has entered into a definitive agreement with automotive service company Ulti-Mech to market, distribute and service Tembo-powered electric utility vehicles in Western Australia.
Tembo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VivoPower, is a Dutch electric vehicle company focussed on designing and building ruggedised EV solutions for various sectors including mining, infrastructure, utilities, tourism and government services.
Under the deal, Ulti-Mech will sell a minimum of 1,000 Tembo EV conversion kits over the next five years, acquire and convert utility vehicles to ruggedised electric utility vehicles (EUV) utilizing Tembo conversion kits, sell the units to end-customers and provide after-sale servicing and maintenance with support from Tembo.
The Tembo EV kits will transform diesel-powered 4x4 LandCruiser and Hilux vehicles into ruggedized EUVs for use in the mining industry and other sectors. The initiative is part of VivoPower’s turnkey sustainable energy solutions, designed to help corporate customers achieve their net-zero carbon goals and cost savings.
Ulti-Mech is a 100-percent Australian-owned and operated automotive service company that provides specialized mining and 4WD automotive services. With three locations, the Newman-based company covers Western Australia from north to south and plans to expand to two additional large mining towns in the Pilbara region, Tom Price and Karratha.
“Ulti-Mech’s coverage across Western Australia is strategically important, given it is Australia’s largest state by land mass with mines located in remote locations from north to south,” Kevin Chin, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VivoPower, said. “Importantly, Ulti-Mech is an authorized inspection station service provider for the Department of Transport of Western Australia.”
